- What is CYBIND?
-
A senior software engineering studio in Lisbon, run by
one principal engineer. Two decades of shipped work
— streaming at national scale (Locast, WFMZ+),
multi-brand CPG (Ken’s Foods), and accounting and
tax software (TAXCLARA). Most of the work today is
putting AI to work inside businesses — mostly ones
without an engineering team of their own — so that
it is accurate, safe and affordable enough to leave
running.
- How does an engagement work?
-
Most start with a two-week audit: where AI pays off in
your business, tested on 50 of your real documents with
the error rate and monthly cost measured — or, if
you already have an AI prototype, whether it is ready for
production. If that turns into build, one defined
workflow is built and connected to the tools you already
use, at a fixed price, in 4–6 weeks. Upkeep keeps
it right afterwards. Two calls to scope and confirm fit,
then a one-page SOW and a start date. Invoiced from a
Portuguese legal entity in EUR or USD.
- What does CYBIND cost?
-
The audit is €4–6K fixed, over two weeks.
Builds start at €12K fixed. Upkeep after a build is
€1.5K per month. Everything is fixed-price against
an agreed scope — never hourly — and the
engineer who scopes it is the one who builds it.
- Who is behind CYBIND?
-
Andrew Kovalenko — principal engineer, founder, and
the only person inside the studio. CS degree in Ukraine,
twenty years at Jaybird Group as principal, now operating
independently from Lisbon as CYBER MIND Unipessoal LDA.
- We don’t have engineers. Can you still help?
-
Yes — that is most of the work. The audit is
written for the people who run the business, not for
engineers, and upkeep means nobody on your side has to
maintain code they didn’t write.
- Which models do you use, and where does our data go?
-
Whichever model passes the evaluation at the lowest cost
— Claude, OpenAI or an open-weight model —
not a favourite. Provider, region, retention and whether
your data may be used for training are settled in
writing before any real data is sent.
- What if AI isn’t the answer?
-
Then the audit says so. Often the right move is an
off-the-shelf tool or plain code, and the build-vs-buy
section of the audit is written to be useful even if you
never hire me for the build.
