AI, put to work

A demo takes a week. Leaving it running is the job.

Getting a model to do something impressive once is easy now. The engineering is everything around it: knowing how often it gets things wrong, keeping it away from data it shouldn’t see, connecting it to the tools your people already use, and knowing what it will cost when everyone uses it. That’s the part I do.

  • Invoices, receipts and forms read into your systems
  • Routine email sorted, with replies drafted
  • First-pass estimates and quotes
  • Answers from your own documents and policies

01

You know how often it’s wrong.

Before anything goes live, I build a test set from your real documents and cases and measure the error rate. You decide what’s good enough; what the system isn’t sure about goes to a person instead of being guessed. Arithmetic stays in ordinary code — the model reads, it doesn’t do the maths.

In TAXCLARA
The model reads receipts and statements; a tax engine does the maths

02

It only sees what it should.

It gets the permissions of the person using it and nothing more, and anything it wants to change is checked again before it’s applied. Which provider processes your data, where, and whether it may be used for training is settled in writing before any real data is sent.

In TAXCLARA
A test suite fails the build if an access check weakens

03

You know what it costs.

Cost per document, per request, per user — measured, and projected at ten times today’s volume. The cheapest model that passes the test, and hard monthly limits, so the bill never surprises you.

In TAXCLARA
Every AI call metered; a monthly AI budget per account

Pricing

Start small. Go further only if it earns it.

Fixed scope, fixed price, never hourly — a defined deliverable with a date. The engineer who scopes the work is the one who builds it.

Audit

€4–6K fixed · 2 weeks

I walk through the work with the people who do it, pick the two or three places AI pays for itself, say where an off-the-shelf tool is enough, and test the top one on 50 of your real documents — error rate and monthly cost measured. Already have a prototype? The same two weeks check it for accuracy, security and cost instead.

Build

One piece, live

from €12K fixed · 4–6 weeks

One defined piece — an AI workflow, an app, an integration — connected to the tools you already use: email, Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, your CRM or accounting system. With tests, monitoring, spending limits and a handover to your team.

After launch

Upkeep

€1.5K per month

Models change every few months, and so do your documents. Monitoring, model updates, a monthly accuracy and cost report, and small fixes. Recommended for any team without its own engineers.

  1. 1 An intro call scopes the problem.
  2. 2 A second call confirms fit and price.
  3. 3 A one-page SOW, and an NDA if you need one.
  4. 4 A start date — usually within two weeks.

TAXCLARA — accounting & tax software, with AI inside

A Portuguese tax and bookkeeping product where AI reads receipts, invoices and bank statements, categorises transactions and answers questions from the user’s own ledger — while a tax engine does the arithmetic. Every AI call is metered, each account has a monthly AI budget, and the assistant reaches only the signed-in user’s data. The same three rules I bring to your business, running in production.

Frequently asked

A few quick answers.

What is CYBIND?
A senior software engineering studio in Lisbon, run by one principal engineer. Two decades of shipped work — streaming at national scale (Locast, WFMZ+), multi-brand CPG (Ken’s Foods), and accounting and tax software (TAXCLARA). Most of the work today is putting AI to work inside businesses — mostly ones without an engineering team of their own — so that it is accurate, safe and affordable enough to leave running.
How does an engagement work?
Most start with a two-week audit: where AI pays off in your business, tested on 50 of your real documents with the error rate and monthly cost measured — or, if you already have an AI prototype, whether it is ready for production. If that turns into build, one defined workflow is built and connected to the tools you already use, at a fixed price, in 4–6 weeks. Upkeep keeps it right afterwards. Two calls to scope and confirm fit, then a one-page SOW and a start date. Invoiced from a Portuguese legal entity in EUR or USD.
What does CYBIND cost?
The audit is €4–6K fixed, over two weeks. Builds start at €12K fixed. Upkeep after a build is €1.5K per month. Everything is fixed-price against an agreed scope — never hourly — and the engineer who scopes it is the one who builds it.
Who is behind CYBIND?
Andrew Kovalenko — principal engineer, founder, and the only person inside the studio. CS degree in Ukraine, twenty years at Jaybird Group as principal, now operating independently from Lisbon as CYBER MIND Unipessoal LDA.
We don’t have engineers. Can you still help?
Yes — that is most of the work. The audit is written for the people who run the business, not for engineers, and upkeep means nobody on your side has to maintain code they didn’t write.
Which models do you use, and where does our data go?
Whichever model passes the evaluation at the lowest cost — Claude, OpenAI or an open-weight model — not a favourite. Provider, region, retention and whether your data may be used for training are settled in writing before any real data is sent.
What if AI isn’t the answer?
Then the audit says so. Often the right move is an off-the-shelf tool or plain code, and the build-vs-buy section of the audit is written to be useful even if you never hire me for the build.

Contact

Let’s build something.

One inbox, no ticket queues, no BD layer. Tell me what your team spends too much time on, or what your AI prototype can’t do yet. If two decades of engineering plus modern AI can help, I’ll say so. If not, I’ll say that too. Most engagements start with the two-week audit — a small, fixed first step for both of us.
